Here is a quick tour through a gallery of Robert’s drawings and printed proofs. They recreated Robert’s studio with actual items from the New York office, Can you guess which are the real props? (Hint: not the velvet rope!) There were many examples of fine antique pop-ups on loan from the Waldo Hunt Museum.
Pop-ups from Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland appear in two foot tall self-opening books! The thousands of visitors got a glimpse of all the oversized spreads of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz every 20 seconds. Turn the corner and come face to face with a giant megalodon from Sharks and other Sea Monsters.
Then enter the jungle and find some of the beasts escaping the pages of Dinosaurs and lounging on some large rocks! The gift shop at the exhibit is crowded with happy visitors hoping to take home some books and souvenirs of their visit. Patient fans twist through the gift shop to a signing table where Robert autographs Japanese editions of his books and poses for many photos!
