Matthew Reinhart's Trip to Japan!

Star Wars: Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy was a gargantuan effort for the studio, and here, visitors can view all the prototypes that led up to the finalized version of the book.  Aren’t you exhausted just looking at it?

Preliminary sketches, pop-up prototypes and finalized art from the Jungle Book are all on display as well.

Whoa!  The monkeys’ temple gets really tall in large-scale!  Matthew can barely reach the top-most ape.

Countless pop-ups, in Japanese and English, are available in the exhibit store – and not just Robert and Matthew.  Wallets always get lighter after leaving – that’s for sure.

With Tamami’s help, Matthew signs books for some of Tokyo’s devoted pop-up fans.  Everyone wanted him to sign Darth Vader’s helmet, which is no easy task!

Tokyo subways are spotlessly clean, very different from the subways of New York City.  Both are difficult to navigate, but with Tamami’s help, Matthew and Gary never got lost.

One moring, Matthew, his Dad and Tamami were lucky enough to witness a traditional Japanese wedding in the park near the Harajuku area in Tokyo. Can you believe the choices for cell phones in Tokyo?  They are so lucky – and this is barely a tenth of the different phones available.  Too bad they don’t work here in the United States!

The noise inside this Pachinko house in Electric Ten was deafening!  Matthew quickly left to preserve his hearing!  Looks like those guys are having a lot of fun, though!  Maybe next time Matthew visits Tokyo, he’ll bring his earplugs.
