I came in contact with Pop-up (also known as Origamic Architecture) 11 years ago when I saw a book by Masahiro Chatani. I was immediately taken by the beauty of these cards. Initially I only cut and folded cards from designs of Masahiro Chatani and Keiko Nakazawa. The urge to make designs myself was growing and after five years, I tried designing myself. My understanding have grown over the years and continue to grow each every day. The main attraction for me is that the card always looks nicer than one could ever imagine.

My work has been displayed and sold in The Netherlands and beyond. In 2001, it was displayed at the American Craft Museum in New York for four months along side work from Marivi Garrido, Takaaki Kihari, Masahiro Chatani and Keiko Nakazawa. Just last Spring I published From Building to Card, with original designs of famous buildings in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Every few years 3d pop-up cards have my attention for a certain period of time. It first started in 1988 with the books of Masahiro Chatani which I copied from the library. Soon I began to design my own cards which was much more satisfying! In 1992 and 1998 I designed some more. In the meantime I made many papercuttings. The last time I designed 3d cards there was hardly any Internet, let alone Google! Now there's so many websites with these cards and I feel so 'green' again.
