Sneak Peek!

Another year - another great bunch of budding paper engineers at Pratt Institute.  This time we are featuring a collection of fairytales and folklore from Professor Olmon’s inspiring young artists.  After weeks of mastering designs like v-folds and layers, they are ready to show off their fun creations.  Check out a few of our favorite pop-ups!

Here we have a sad princess trapped in a towering castle as she awaits a rescue from her valiant prince.  He better hurry up!

Goldilocks is running for the hills as three disgruntled bears chase her out of their home!

Baba Yaga floats over her cabin on chicken feet in this wonderful adaptation of the Slavic folktale.

We were delighted to see the Little Prince show up in this project.  Here he is carried off his home planet by a flock of birds.

Long-locked Rapunzel gets a haircut by the witch and sends the fair prince falling in this fun pop-up!

“All in a Day’s Work” states this pop-up card as seven busy dwarves have a mishap at the well.

We get a front row seat (and a heaping bowl of porridge) as the action unfolds in this version of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.

From the folklore of Trinidad comes the tale of the Soucouyant, which takes the form of a blood-sucking fireball.  It is said a little salt on the skin will cause it to perish.  Remember to keep that salt handy!

Hansel and Gretel cheer (and wave goodbye to us) after they successfully rid themselves of the evil witch.  Let us say goodbye to them and all the wonderful students at Pratt this semester!

We'll bring you more Pop-ups from Pratt as the semester continues! And good luck Professor Olmon!
