Finals Pop-ups from Pratt!
The semester has almost ended and the paper engineering students at Pratt Institute in New York City have turned in their final pop-ups. The project was to create a movable advertisement for a company or product of their choice. The results are both dynamic and hilarious!
This promotion for the ready-made retail company Ikea plays off the boldness of the company's logo... ...and shows a up pop-box that comes complete with a piece of furniture inside sitting on the bed of the driver's truck! Hanes Underwear has most likely never had a promotion like this before.
The pop-up comes complete with little under garments hanging from actual string on a clothes-line! Nothing is as sweet as a pop-up or a donut according to this student's artistic design solution. A mountain of donuts reaches to the sky surrounded by an endless supply of "leggy" cups of coffee!
Safety is obviously on this young artist's mind... ...and a pop-up is the perfect way to show all the products available from this safety and construction company. Famous faces (and the products they promote) cater to America's fixation with staying lean.
And who better to do this then a rock-em, sock-em George Foreman and his famous grill?! Less is more with some graphic, colorful shapes and are instantly recognizable to Americans. Wonder Bread, the whitest of white breads, pop-ups up in the form of toast in this minimalist piece.
A very contemporary solution to one of the newer, more highly visible retailers across the country comes in the form a red circle. Target explodes off the page in a shower of red dots with their mascot dog caught up in the action. But one of the best ads plays off the idea of the stereotypical housewife exclaiming "No more cleaning with a mop!!!"
We'll bring you more Pop-ups from Pratt next semester!
But the hilarious result reveals the ad is actually for Colt Beer, which "Tastes great, right down to the last drop," as a desperate husband laps up the housewife's floor!
