Sneak Peek: Insect-lo-pedia by Matthew Reinhart

Insect-lo-pedia is buzzing into bookstores soon!!

This October eager insect enthusiasts can go buggy over the latest in the Young Naturalist Handbook Series. Through his whimsical artwork Matthew Reinhart has created a place where fact and fancy merge with unforgettable results.

Over 250 individual watercolor illustrations are scattered throughout the pages of this impressive picture book. Each page is crawling with fun facts about the creepy crawlies we share the Earth with.

This armored arthropod isn't content to rely on his chitin-made exoskeleton for protection. Insect-lo-pedia is brimming with zany bug characters like this one. Here Matthew illustrates a mole cricket's attempt at amplifying sound, used to send out his mating call in stereo.
The mosquito gets the nod as the Most Dangerous Animal on Earth. Find out just how humans have suffered at the hands of insects.

Insect-lo-pedia is not all fun and games! Detailed diagrams show bug basics - from body pieces and parts to illustrations of the life cycle of various insects. Each spread is crammed full of interesting, and sometimes even disgusting, facts about the bugs that wiggle across the pages.
